iPod ShuffleBud USB adapter for 2nd gen iPod shuffle

TUAW brings word of this little USB adapter for the 2nd gen shuffles.

For many people, the appeal of the original iPod shuffle was that ithad the form and function of a plain old USB thumbdrive, aside frombeing an awesome MP3 player. The 2nd generation iPod shuffle is an evenmore awesome MP3 player, and has an even better form factor, but lostit's ability to function as a USB thumbdrive without having to use thenew dock.

The ShuffleBud, by Incipio(which we think rhymes with C3PO), solves that problem, and it does itfor only $5.99 USD. The ShuffleBud is what Apple should have justtossed in the box to begin with, although I am starting to think thatApple deliberately omits certain features in order to keep themulti-billion dollar iPod accessory market thriving, which isn't such abad thing.

ShuffleBud is just a small (5.6 grams, 47mm X 16mm)USB to 3.5mm adapter that enables you to plug your 2G shuffle directlyinto an available USB port without having to use the iPod shuffle dock, making it much more convenient to shove in your pocket or clip to yourbag with the included lanyard loop for those who are always on the goand don't need more gear in their bag.
Seems like a nifty little thingie for those of you who have moved into the 2nd gen.

I Like this idea but when you plug your shuffle in won't it slide around or does this gadget lock the shuffle in place?

Hey, can you tell me if this will work to play the ipod shuffle over a USB car radio?

Pretty clever -- but what can take the new iPod shuffle to a even a higher level of coolness? Ah yes, a completely waterproof -- yes, I said WATERPROOF 2nd gen iPod Shuffle. While other versions of the iPod have waterproof cases, I haven't heard of a waterproof case for the 2nd generation iPod Shuffle. However, the great news is that there is a WATERPROOF 2nd generation iPod Shuffle sold on the web by SWIMMAN at http://www.swimman.com. It's sold along with their excellent waterproof headset that has been rated on the web as being the best waterproof headset on the market. I have used it and now won't go in the water or do laps without it. The iPod shuffle is now light years ahead of everything else out there. It has become a true "go anywhere, do anything" digital audio player.

You should use caution with this device. I opend my shuffle dock and there is a circiut inside to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) which could damage your computer. I have not bought one of these yet but form the looks of it it dos not have this circut inside. If you do use it plug it into the shuffle first and then into the computer. When diconecting the shuffle remove the entire shuffle and adapter ant once. Do not leave this adapter plugged into your computer if the shuffle is not connected. In addition, it looks like there is a circut that would also reduce any emitions from the iPod to the computer. As mentions you could damage your computer enven if you use this as I have recomened. I am not responsible for any damage to your computer or iPod.

There are many such add ones for the Ipod shuffle and most of them are very innovative and cool.

I bought one similar to this, but cheaper. It works perfectly.
